Confidentiality and Copyrights
Your content belongs solely to you, the client or prospective client, and I will not share or discuss it with anyone without your permission. If I need to consult with other professionals, it will be done in a way that does not share the content itself, the client’s identity, or any other information that could reasonably be seen as confidential or proprietary. In other words, I will not make any unauthorized use of a client’s copyrighted materials or proprietary or confidential information.
I take all reasonable precautions to secure client documents that are in my possession or within my control (e.g., cloud storage), securing them with the same or higher degree of care that I use for my own confidential information. If requested by the client, I will return or delete the client’s files.
The copyrights to the original text remains with the client. The copyrights to all edits and comments belongs to Northern Sunrise Editing until the applicable invoices are paid in full.
Payment Process
Typically, once terms are agreed to, jobs require a deposit of 25 to 50 percent of the total to reserve time on my calendar. The remainder is invoiced when the work is complete and is due within one week. If the job is broken into multiple rounds or portions, the invoiced amounts are proportional to the amount completed. I usually send invoices by PayPal, but other methods that are agreeable to both parties may be arranged.
Artificial Intelligence Use
Northern Sunrise Editing does not use artificial intelligence (AI) software with client content except that which may be embedded in standard editing software such as Microsoft Word’s or Google Docs’ spelling and grammar checkers, or other common editing tools (e.g., PerfectIt, title case converters, citation/reference formatters). Client text is never entered into large language models, such as ChatGPT, Claude, or others. I may use AI to begin research (for background or fact-checking, for instance), but all pertinent information is verified using other sources.
I also prefer not to work on content that has been substantially produced via artificial intelligence. Let’s have a conversation about this if it is relevant to your individual situation.
Website Privacy Policy
Northern Sunrise Editing respects your privacy. To correspond or work with you, I will need your name and email address. If we communicate by voice or text, I will need your phone number and time zone if we plan to communicate in real time. Northern Sunrise Editing is governed by the laws of Alaska and the United States.
I usually send invoices through PayPal, for which I use your name and email address. Please refer to PayPal’s own privacy policy for more information. If a different payment method (e.g., Venmo, Stripe) is agreed to, then I only collect the information necessary to make that work (e.g., your username). Northern Sunrise Editing collects no financial information. Your name, contact information, and order history may be retained as long as it is needed for administrative, legal, or security purposes. You may request access to your information to correct it, and if it is no longer needed, you may request its deletion.
Northern Sunrise Editing will never sell or share your information without your express permission.
Northern Sunrise Editing uses Google Analytics to understand and track the use of this site, including pageviews, traffic sources, and clicks. It does not collect personally identifiable information. Please read Google’s privacy policy for further information.
This site uses WPConsent to allow visitors to accept or reject cookies. WPConsent complies with California’s CCPA, Canada’s PIPEDA, the EU’s GDPR, and many other international laws and standards. This site, nsediting.com, was created with WordPress, is hosted by Bluehost, and uses various plug-ins for security and backups.
